French Bulldogs have one of the shortest median lifespans of the popular breeds. The same study found that flat-faced breeds as a group live shorter lives than breeds with longer muzzles, so a Frenchie of 7 or 8 may be further through life than the age chart suggests.
A 5-year-old French Bulldog is about 37 in human years, and a 10-year-old is about 60.
In a 2024 study led by Dogs Trust, published in Scientific Reports, which looked at more than half a million UK dogs, half of French Bulldogs lived to 9.8 or older. That's shorter than dogs overall, and about the same as a person reaching 59.

French Bulldogs count as medium dogs (9 to 23kg when fully grown). Medium dogs settle into about 4 to 5 human years for every year after their second birthday. If yours is much lighter or heavier than usual, pick their actual size in the full converter.
